A LONG DELAY

WANGANUI HEALTH CAMP

(Special to the "Evening Post.") WANGANUI,' June 23,

Wanganul is still waiting for the pro. mised visit of Dr. M. H. Watt, Directed of General Health and chairman of the King George V Memorial Fund Trustees, states "The Post's" representative. Dr. Watt, promised to visit tha city in June and inspect the health camp and report to the advisory board. This beautiful building, set in grounds whiph Government labour, has levelled and put into order, has been waiting nearly two years for funds for furnishing.

Wanganui pioneered the health camp movement, for Dr. Elizabeth Gunn, then school medical officer of the Wanganui Education Board, established the first camp in New Zealand at Mr. B. P. Lethbridge's property at Turakina. Wanganui and the district have provided everything but the money needed for furnishing, and it no grant for the memorial fund (to which the district subscribed liberally) is forthcoming there is every lihood that a public meeting of pro* test will be held. . "Wanganui has been side-tracked too often," is the feeling of the many who have worked hard to establish the camp.

Members of the Hope Gibbons family have furnished one ward in memory of their mother.

Inquiries show that before funds are available special legislation is necea* sary.
