ENFIELD'S LAST TRAM

An extraordinary scene marked tha [passage of the last trafncar on the route between Wood Green and Enfield, London, at 2 a.m. on May 8, re» ports the "Manchester Guardian." When tram left the depot at Enfield the doors were flung open and people marched in procession from rear to front for the privilege of saying they had walked through the last tram. About 300 motorists had assembled, and as soon as the. .tram moved off they began a chorus ; with their hooters. Othei people placed fog signals on the lines, and as the tram went on, its way the lights were gradually extinguished, the bulbs being taken by passengers as souvenirs. With a final round of cheering the tram was put into the depot at Woo<i Green. The trams are being replaced tqr troUev-biises.
