Mrs. Andrew Rutherford and Miss Emily Rutherford, Mendip Hills, Canterbury, left from Wellington last night by the Awatea for a visit to Sydney and Queensland. Miss Nancy Fleming, Wellington, a member of the North Island badminton team, will be the guest of Miss V. Whitcombe during her stay in New Plymouth. * Mr. and Mrs; T. F. Watson, Masterftoo, visited Wellington yesterday to bid farewell to their son; Dr. Alister Watson, who left by the Awatea for Sydney, en route to China. Mrs. C. L, Orbell and Miss Janet Orbell, "Pentlow," Timaru, who have recently arrived hi England, have left for Plymouth to meet Lieutenant T. D. Herrick, of H.M.S. Gipsy, on his arrival from Gibraltar. The marriage of Miss Orbell and Lieutenant Herrick will take place on July 2 from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Savill, Newbury, Berkshire. VMiss Lena Coh6n, who has been visiting New Zealand, left Wellington .by the Awatea last night on her return to Australia. / Mrs. S.
