PRICES AT LOCAL SALE

The fortnightly sale of sheepskins and hides was held by Wellington brokers yesterday. Under good competition from the usual buyers, sheepskins generally advanced id per lb, with some lots of shorter-woolled skins improving on last sale by as much as Id. Hides also met with a keener market, and most sorts were dearer than a fortnight ago. Medium weights of ox appreciated by 3-8 d to id, whilst light were firm. Heavy ox, however, were rather neglected and declined in price by per lb. All weights of cow were up by l-8d to }d, with light and medium sorts showing the larger advance. Kip and yearlings dropped id to Id, but calfskins appreciated in value by 3-Bd.
