His Excellency the Governor-General was present this afternoon at the hockey match between the touring Indian team and Wellington. The Minister of Mines (the Hon. P. C. Webb) left Wellington last night for Christchurch. He is expected to return on Tuesday morning. ;, The Minister of Education (the Hon. P. Fraser) returned to Wellington this morning from the South Island.

The Minister of Lands (the Hon. P. Langstone) leaves Wellington on Monday night for Ruatoki, East Coast, where he will discuss with adherents of the Bingatu Church, Te KoOti's church, the development of the Kuatoki Native land block. Mr. Langstone will return to Wellington on Wednesday morning. The Minister of Public Works (tha Hon. R. Semple) is expected to return to Wellington on Tuesday morning from the South Island. The Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. W. Lee Martin) has returned io Wellington from the north. Mr. R. L. Gillies, superintending engineer of the Union Steam Ship Co., and Mr. G. Hazlett, the company's chief electrician, left for Auckland by aeroplane yesterday.The Hon. W. E. Barnard (Speaker of the House of Representatives) has arrived in Wellington for the session of Parliament which opens on Tuesday. Mr. R. L. Grant, general manager for British Empire Films Pty., Ltd., will leave Auckland on Monday on a business and holiday trip to the tUnited States and England. He will be .absent from, New Zealand for about six months. Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., who has been transferred to Palmerston North, was farewelled at the Upper Hutt Court yesterday. Mr. A. J. Mazengafb said he had been asked by members of the Bar, the police, and the traffic inspectors to wish Mr. Lawry every happiness in his new sphere of work and to extend thanks for the courteous taeatment he had always given them. In returning thanks, Mr. Lawry said he had conducted the Hutt Valley Courts for over three years, and he had appreciated the friendly atmosphere In the courts and the assistance given by the solicitors, who realised their duty to the Court as well as to their clients. Colonel N. S. Falla, chairman and managing director of the Union Steam Ship Company, who has been in Canada and the United States for some weeks, arrived in London on Wednesday, accompanied by Mrs. Talla and his private secretary, Mr; H. Chapman. Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., chairman! and Messrs. J. H. Jerram and A. E. Reynolds, members of the Public Service Appeal Board, arrived from Auckland today by the Limited express. They will return to Auckland next week to resume the hearing of appeals from Auckland and the surrounding districts against the reclassification of the Public Service.

The Rev. Alan A. Blash, M.A., a graduate of Otago University, has passed his final examination for the degree of B.D. (Edinburgh), with distinction in theology. He leaves Edinburgh in August for return to New Zealand.
