PICTON PROPOSALS
IMPROVING THE FORESHORE (By Telegraph.) (Special to tho "Evening Post.") BLENHEIM, This Day. For the purpose of securing designs for buildings to be erected on the Picton foreshore, the Picton Borough Council recently offered a prize of 10 guineas to the person submitting the most suitable proposals. Several plans were received by the council, and at a special meeting last night the design of Mr. A. Mcß Stewart, Blenheim, was awarded the prize. The plan provides for the erection of buildings extending towards the beach from the War Memorial and the inclusion of a cafeteria, dressing rooms for sea bathers, and office and shop accommodation. The reason for the competition was, to secure suitable proposals to place' before the Minister of Tourist and Pub-; licity (the Hon. F. Langstone) at a later date, when the council intends to 1 apply for assistance in advancing Picton's claims as a holiday resort. |
