CENTRE'S REPORT

A successful season is recorded, in the report of the Wellington Bowling Centre, to be presented to the annual meeting of delegates on July 12. The Otaki Railway Club affiliated to the centre during the season, making the number of clubs affiliated 24, with a membership of 1884, which is an increase of 155 over last season. Increased entries were received for the Christmas rinks. New Year pairs, ana Easter rinks. Forty-four teams,, comprising 176 rinks, participated w the I senior pennant competition, vtsiting bowlers included the British team, and, bowlers from South Canterbury, Wairarapa, Manawatu, and Otaki centres. I The report records appreciation of the action of the Christchurch Centre in waiving its right to hold the Dominion tournament in Christchurch in, 1940, and allowing the tournament to, be held in Wellington. "This, sporting action on the part of the Christchurch Centre will be appreciated by all bowlers," states the report. "It is regretted that a few bowlers failed to appear in proper bowling costume when playing in pennant matches and tournaments, and it is hoped that club executives will take a Arm stand in this respect during the forthcoming season," the report states, "Bowlers generally are advised that the following rule is proposed to be embodied in the New Zealand Bowling Association s constitution and rules and laws of the game: 'Competitors shall not be permitted to play except in recognised bowling costume (white or cream trousers, full length, white or cream shirt, and club colours). The finances of the centre are ma sound condition, there being a credit balance of £112 compared with £-0 last year.
