Joseph McCarthy, who deserted his ship in February, 1937, and has spent most of the intervening time in gaol, was sentenced by Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., today to a term of six months' imprisonment for the theft of two pairs of trousers, an overcoat, and a dressing gown at Patea and two suits at Waverley.
