PLUNGE INTO CREEK
AMERICAN TRAIN 13 PEOPLE DROWNED, 40 INJURED (Received June 20, 10.20 a.m.) NEW YORK, June 19. A passenger train travelling from Chicago to Seattle plunged into a creek at Saugus, Montana, when a bridge collapsed after heavy rain had undermined a pier. Thirteen persons were drowned and 40 injured. The engine, the baggage and mail cars, two coaches, and two sleeping carriages were submerged. The engine crew, the baggage man, and the mail clerk were among those who lost their lives.
