A WINTER MEETING J (From "The Post's" Representative.) WANGANUI, May 17. The second day of the Wanganui Jockey Club's Winter Meeting was as pleasant as the preceding Thursday, and a very large crowd was again present the largest, for several years. The weather, fine in the morning, became dull and wet at midday but cleared beautifully early in the afternoon. Aero Club Party. The Wanganui Club held a successful little dance at the clubhouse on Saturday night. Among the dancers were Mr and Mrs. J. Nixon, Mr. and Mrs. Tancred, Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey, wfUe-5 J and V. Winstone, M.,Bnnkman N Whillans, M. Grumitt. T. Hunter, B. Wilkie, A. Peterson; and Ers W. Moffett, D. Arton, G. WilUams C. Merrington, H. Robertshaw, Kaham, K. Bleakly (Marton), and J. Colway. ant place recently when the settlers held a "welcome home" to Mr. and Mrs S. Whiteman. Music and dancing filled a happy evening and Mr. Robert Sinclair proposed the health of ine Bride and Bridegroom." . At Silverhope a. similar gathering farewelled Mr. and Mrs Arthur Hargreaves at "Te Maire." They left the district on Tuesday. On behalf of the settlers, Mr. W. Voelkerling presented the guests of honour with a beautiful chiming clock. Dancing and bridge filled the evening. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. J. Loune, Mr. and Mrs. I. Bartlett, Misses A. Illston, J., M., and N. Loune, and Messrs. I. Lourie, L. McDonald, and W.Gill. Personals. Miss E. Holt, Wellington, is a guest of Mrs. E. McKerina, Patea. Mrs F. W. Sathefley, Raetihi, is the euest of Mrs. A. McNab. Mrs. E. Fisher, Carterton, is visiting Dr. Mollie Christie. Mrs Lyndon, Wellington, is visiting Mrs H. C. Veitch, St. John's Hill. Miss A.
