THREE POSITIONS
Mr. J. H. Collins, making reference last night to the statement made by Mr. A. Fletcher at Miramar in connection with win-and-place betting, and Labour's big mistake in nominating Mr. C. H. Chapman for three positions, said that the party considered these sensible things to do. Mr. Chapman, Labour's Mayoral candidate, had given many years of service to1 the citizens of Wellington. Mr. Fletcher would realise that this candidate should not be lost to the City' if his services were available in other capacities, therefore, to be prepared for such a contingency, Labour nominated Mr. Chapman for the three positions. "I venture to suggest that the shock Mr. A. Fletcher received when he saw the nominations will be nothing to the shock he will receive when the numbers go up," said Mr. Collins. It is highly probable that if the race was run in two divisions, Mr. Fletcher would not pay a dividend in the bottom half.
