ARCTIC KING'S RECORD

Although Arctic King;has required, seven starts since his resumption to return :to 'the 'winning list, he' was so well when he came Back from his spell that his lessee-trainer, W. J. Wood, has given him a chance, in every one of those . starts except . the Thompson Handicap at the Wellington Meeting last month, and he carried stable confidence each time.

He was considered only a forlorn Thompson hope because of the early brilliance of so many of the field, but he ran a good race nevertheless, finishing on from a long way back. At the recent Manawatu Meeting again the early pace set by Lucullus Lad on a very fast track had him doing his best to hold his place- throughout, and that way does not' suit him..-.Yesterday in the Great Autumn, a race-in which.he beat everything .except Willie Win last year after haying fallen on the first day, he, had the running to his liking, and when sent on his claim in the last furlong he buried his opponents for brilliance. Arctic King was having his seventyfourth start yesterday. He has won seventeen times and been in the minor places fifteen times, and in stakes he has earned £3731.
