COUNCIL DUTIES.
ATTENDANCE AT MEETINGS
Members of the City Council have been supplied...with copies 6|-the record of attendances at the meetings of the council and its committees held during the '.past- three years. : The main record represents, all meetings (both of council and committees), but each member's record has to be read in conjunction with the number of meetings he has been called to attend, for some are on more committees than others.
In percentage of meetings attended to the number called the list is headed by Councillor T. Brindle with 95.8 per cent, attendances, closely followed by the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, with i 95.5 per cent. Then follows Councillor W J. Gaudin with 91.3, and Councillor W. Duncan with 91 per cent, attendances. The detailed figures, are as ■follows:— ", ' .'" .

Councillor McKeen had leave of absence to visit the Old Country from April, 1936, to November, of the same year. Councillor .Huggins was granted leave of absence .on the score of illness for nearly the first half of ■■ last year. Councillor Burns also was ill for part of'the term. Councillors Read and Parlane were not appointed to the council until 1936. Councillor Appleton has been a member of the Mort; gage Adjustment Commission since May, 1937. and this has resulted in his unavoidable absence from a number of committee meetings. Meetings of the council and finance committee (which is the council as a whole) numbered 89 during the period from May, 1935, until March 31 of the present year. Here again Councillor Brindle topped the list through having been, absent once only, and the Mayor was again the runner-up with three non-attendances. Councillor Duncan came next, having been absent only on four occasions. Others failed to attend these meetings.as follows:— Councillor Chapman,, 5; Councillors Gaudin, Luckie, and Read, 6; Councillor Parlane, 7; Councillor Black, 9; Councillors Appleton and Wright, .11; Councillor Butler, 12} Councillor McKenzie, 13; Councillor Burns, 23; Councillors Huggins and McKeen, 30.
