SUCCESSFUL EVENING
PLIMMERTON PLAYERS'
SOCIETY
Some sixty-odd members and visitors made an appreciative audience at the Plimmerton Players' Society when the first gathering took place for the year. The function was in fact a belated "wind up" to the successful season of 1937, and judging by the manner in which the. two plays (produced by Mrs. N. Kerr and Mr. J. Lagden) were received, the enthusiasm of that season will be exceeded in the forthcoming one. A delightful ; violin solo rendered by Miss J. Tunnicliffe, accompanied on the piano by her mother, opened the proceedings, and the "community sing" conducted by Mr. J. Lagden proved the usual popular interlude between the readings. A few anecdotes provided the audience with a sense of humour that enabled them to appreciate fully the amusing farce read in the second part of the programme. The committee reports that as the result of the enthusiasm shown several new members have been enrolled, enabling a more ambitious programme to be adopted for the 1938 season.
