A HARDY VETERAN

Although rising 14 years, the New Zealand-bred Prince Paladin, by Paladin from Lovelorn, is still able to pay his way in West Australia, where he lately won' in Purse company, and later was placed three times in succession in open middle-distance handicaps. Not so successful, however, has been the attempt to get another old one in Serbury to successfully stage a come-back. Also rising 14 years of age, Serbury in his day was one of West Australia's star gallopers. Twice he won the West Australian Turf Club's Metropolitan, and a state time record for a mile and a quarter, which he created in 1930, and which, although equalled a little later, still stands.
