OBSCURE RIGHTS
ENGLISH DRIVING LICENCE
Without context or explanation the English driving licence produced by the secretary of the Automobile Association, Wellington (Mr. W. A. Sutherland), at. the meeting of the association last night is merely provocative: He was entitled to drive:—
I. locomotive, light locomotive, motor tractor, heavy motor-car, or motor-tricycle equipped with means for reversing (excluding any vehicle comprised in Group IV or Group VI). NOTE—An additional licence must be obtained before a Public Service or Heavy Goods vehicle may be driven. 11. Trolley vehicle. 111. Motor-bicycle, with or without side-car) or tricycle not equipped wi'h means for reversing. IV. Track-laying vehicle steered by its tracks. V Invalid carriage. VI. Mowing machine, agricultural tractor, or vehicle controlled by a pedestrian. (Perambulator, barrow, or pie cart?) For the conditions attached to provisional licences, the reader is referred to the back cover, where there is very brief reference to pillion riders and other things. These are the first and last pages of a red-covered licence. The remaining pages (presumably for personal remarks) are blank.
Ramsey Wilson Ltd. will sell chinaware, furniture, and effects at 1.30 tomorrow at their auction rooms, 98 Manners Street (opp. Regent).
