PETONE BAND PROPOSAL
For some time past efforts have been made to form a band in Petone. A considerable amount of public support was promised in the early stages, but so far only £72 7s has been received in donations, and promises of weekly payments amount to .about £35. At least,£lso will be necessary to start the band. The instruments alone would cost £560 and payment for these would be spread over three years. The band project can only go ahead if sufficient enthusiasm is shown and in this connection details of a public meeting to be held on Thursday evening at Petone are advertised. This will probably be the last oportunity available of forming the band, as the lack of; enthusiasm shown at the two previous meetings hardly warrants the sponsors going ahead with the project.
