Arawa's Purser Married,

The. marriage tdok place at St. James's Church, Piccadilly, on March 12 of Miss Olivia Lee, of Melbourne, Australia, to Mr. Reginald Driscoll Oliver, formerly purser ,of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Mataroa, and now of the same company's Arawa, states "The Post's" representative. The bride was a winner of the coveted Melba Scholarship for singing. She combines a fine soprano voice with a startling flair forx impersonation, and has been appearing With success on the English stage recently. Owing to Mr. Oliver's transfer from the Mataroa to the Arawa, his stay in England was considerably reduced, and it was necessary to hold the wedding earlier than had been anticipated. After the marriage Mr. and Mrs. Oliver flew to Paris for a short honeymoon, and returned in time for the bridegroom to leave for New Zealand with his ship on March 17.

Victoria League Ball,

Arrangements are well in hand for the Victoria League Ball, which is to be held at the Savoy Hotel on May 17, says "The Post's" London representative. The Marchioness of Hartington is chairman of trie ball committee; Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone, president of the league, will receive the guests; and Mr. W. J. Jordan, High Commissioner for New Zealand, and Mrs. Jordan are among the patrons. It is hoped to obtain by the ball sufficient funds to enable the league to continue to meet the demands made upon its London centre by the organisation of hospitality for visitors from overseas, and by the educational work of the league.

Mothers' Helpers.

Mrs. G. W. Guthrie presided at a meeting of the Mothers' Helpers, held on Monday, when Mrs. V. L. PalmeV was elected a member of the committee. A donation was acknowledged from Mrs. Henry Hall and thanks were expressed to those who sent contributions to the recent jumble sale, which was such a great success financially.

Travel Talk at E.S.U. Kooms,

The Women's Social Progress Movement has arranged with Mrs. Muriel Lewis to give a travel talk on "Central China." This will take place at the E.S.U. rooms on Thursday next at half-past two. If is hoped that there will be a large gathering to greet Mrs. Lewis, who has just returned from China.
