A SECOND-DAY HORSE?
Some horses earn the reputation of being second-day horses, but none could more deserve such repute than Clessamor, who has won six races this season, all on the second day of a meeting after racing on the first day as well. His trainer, R. Barlow, says, however, that it is more or less coincidence, as the horse has generally been unlucky on opening days, and last year he won his races on the first days. Clessambr's second-day efforts this term have been: Masterton, unplaced first day, won second day; Feilding, unplaced first day, won second day; Taranaki, unplaced first day, won second day; Taranaki Autumn, unplaced first day, won second day; Egmont, unplaced first day, won second day; and Manawatu, unplaced first day, won second day. In most of his first-day efforts above mentioned he has been .fourth or fifth. , ■ .
