WEEKEND ACCIDENTS
MANY KILLED
PETONE FATALITY
Injuries which resulted in his death three hours after admission to the hos-
' pital-were received by Charles Edwin Binns, aged 65, of 42 Fitzherbert Street, Petone,' when ■he was knocked down ' by a motor-cycle as he was crossing -■ the Petone Esplanade from the beach to Victoria Street at 3 o'clock on Saturday afternoon. Mr. Binns suffered a fracture of the skull and a compound -"" fracture of. the left'leg. The motor-cycle, ridden by William - • Bennett, C 3! 16 Petone Avenue, Petone, who had ilso a pillion rider, Victor " White, 10$ Nelson Street, Petone, was - ' proceeding in 'an easterly 'direction -. when the accident occurred. Mr. -• Bennett received head injuries that were not serious and Mr. White a cut over the left eye. All three victims " were taken to the hospital in the Free Ambulance. Mr. White was dis--1 charged almost immediately, and Mr. . Bennett was. reported today to be pro- .", gressing satisfactorily. '," The motor-cyclist was returning from " . an inspection of the locality where Mr. Keith Livingstone was killed on the Hutt Road "itst Tuesday when the accident occurred. ' >
