MILITARY COURSE

FOUR CADETS CHOSEN

TO LEAVE FOR DUNTROON

The Government has selected four secondary school cadets to train at the Royal Military College, Duntroon.'and to qualify for commissions in the New Zealand Regular Forces. The cadets, whose names were announced yesterday by the Minister of Defence (tue Hon. F. Jones)/will leave Auckland for Sydney on the Awatea on February 23. They are:

R. Donaldson Educated at the Karon Primary School, Wellington, and at Kihi Kihi. He has been a pupil at the Te Awamutu District High School since 1934, and was senior prefect there during 1937. He also achieved distinction in athletics, and was ser-geant-major in the senior cadets. He is a son of Mr. Geo. Donaldson, farmer, of Allen's Road, Kihi Kihi.

G. E. L. Dawson: Educated at St. Albans Primary School and . West Christchurch District High School, and from 1930. at the Rongotai College, Wellington. During 1937, his last year at Rongotai College, he was "deputy head prefect, senior boxing champion, and the champion rifle shot of the college. He is a son of Sergeant-Major L. G. Dawson, who has had twenty-five years' service in the Royal New Zealand Artillery, and is at present stationed at Fort Dorset.

L. F. Brokoer: Educated at the Rotorua District Primary School, and from 1931 at the Rotorua High and Grammar School. He was senior athletic champion of the school in 1936 and 1937, and held the school record for the' long jump and hop, step, and jump. He is a son of Mr. S. C. Brooker, No. 6 Pererika Street, Rotorua.

R. G. A. Farnell: Educated at New Plymouth Boys' High School, where he was a distingished athlete o.f, an exceptionally fine physique. He is a son of Mr. W. J. A. Farnell, 51 Waiwaka Terrace, New Plymouth.

Mr. Jones said the four boys would undergo a four years' course of training at Duntroon. They were of a fine stamp.' During their high school career each of the boys had established high efficiency in his respective cadet corps.
