DRIVE AGAINST COMMUNISTS
I PEKING, February 10. The Japanese Spokesman announced an intensified drive against Chinese Communists and partisans in Shansi. He added that the Japanese, in a battle lasting several days wiped out Communists in Kuchiarchen, twenty miles north >of Taiyuan, and captured five important leaders near Huanping. They killed ninety in a Shuntung village and arrested a number of suspects in North Tsingtao. The Japanese at Weihsen attacked a unit of the Eighth Route Army, inflicting heavy losses.
