WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION
The 'treasurer of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association reported at last night's meeting that the net takings at the Stedman-Coombe matches, played at Miramar last month, . were £52 2s 9d. From this the Wellington Association's profit will.be over £21- plus amounts received for the sale of balls.
An invitation from the Wairarapa Association to send a team of six women and six men to play the Wairarapa representatives at Martinborough on March 26 was accepted. The following teams were selected to play Taranaki on February 26:— Men: R. Ferkins. K. Dyer, S. Painter; women. Misses F. Fernie,1 J. Burns, A. Kean, L. Akel, M. Sinclair, J .BedCord, with B. Dale as. emergency. The order of play will depend on ranking matches. L. 11. Pollock was appointed manager. Mr. Ferkins will captain the men and Miss Fernie the women.
It was decided that the association make a donation of £5 to Miss J. Douthctt for her trip to Australia. Arrangements are to be made for the representative matches against the Hutt Valley Sub-Association and the Catholic Sub-Association: All juniors are to attend at Miramar at 11.30 a.m. tomorrow week to sea instructional films and to be coaches.
