DAMAGES AWARDED
CARPENTER'S INJURY
After a retirement of two and a quarter hours a jury in the Supremo Court yesterday afternoon awarded Martin Williams, a carpenter, £900 general damages and £66 14s special damages against Robert O'Brien, a building contractor. The jury found the defendant to have been negligent in failing to have, a guard rail erected on the outside of a stairway at a block of residential flats in Tinakori Road, from which the plaintiff fell and broke his left arm on July 29, 1937. The plaintiff was working for the defendant at the time of the accident... . . .' The case was heard by the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers).- Mr. C, Evans-Scott appeared for the . plaintiff, and Mr. H. F. Q'L'eary, K.C., with him Mr. E. D. Blundell, for the defendant. ' '
