WEDDING

MASON—HOWAT.

Hydrangeas and lilies 'artistically arranged by friends of the bride, made an effective setting in St. John's Presbyterian Church, Wellington, recently, for the marriage of Peggy Mavis, .only doughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. M. Howat, Lower Hutt, and Hedley David, only son of Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Mason, Island Bay. The Rev. J. R. Blanchard was the officiating minister.

The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr. W. Howat, was preceded by a page boy, Malcolm Howat, who, was dressed in a smart suit of white* satin. The bride wore a slim-fitting gown of angel skin lace over satin, falling from the waistline into a long scalloped train. The high neckline had outstanding revers with clusters of orange blossom, and the sleeves, which were pleated at thei shoulders and tapered to points-at the wrists, were finished with small satin buttons. The long embroidered tulle veil fell from a pleated halo with orange blossom. A bouquet of cream,roses and pink carn a'tions made an artistic finish. She was attended by Mrs. I. Howat as matron of. honour, and Miss Mavis Mason, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid. They were dressed in pale pink silk spotted net-over satin. Silver sprays.were worn at the heart-shaped necklines, and the full circular skirts were finished with three rows of satin ribbon., Their dainty pleated tulle haloes had pink velvet flowers and silver leaves, and. they carried bouquets of roses in shades of palest pink.

Mr. C. Nbrris was best man, and Mr. I. Howat groomsman.

As the bride was leaving the church she was presented with a silver horseshoe by her small niece, Yvonne Howat. . -:. ■ '

A reception^ was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Mason, Island Bay, where the guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore a black lace frock with black marocain coat. The matching hat had a crown : of pink velvet pansies. She carried a posy of red roses. She -was assisted -by Mrs. Mason, mother of the bridegroom, wearing. a navy blue ensemble with gramophone straw hat. She carried a posy of cream roses.

When Mr. and Mrs. Mason left by car to tour the North Island, the bride was bearing a brown tailored costume, a small toque with chin veil, and a brown musquash coat. Accessories were to tone.
