STRAWBERRY CULTURE
The1 Upper Hutt Women's Institute held its first meeting-, of '.the year on Tuesday, Mrs. Griffin,- president, being in the chair. There was a very fair attendance, and after several business items had been discussed Mr. B. Roberts, M.P., gave the members a talk on strawberry culture. He told the members much that was useful, and dealt very exhaustively with the subject. He was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. The results of the competitions were as follows:—Thrift article, Mrs. H, Williams 1, Mrs. Braid 2; lemon tarts, Mrs D'Ews 1, -Mrs. Hyslop 2; shopping bag, Mrs. Hyslop 1, Mrs. Braid 2. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames G. Benge, McGill, J Judge, Jowett, Robertson, F. Scholes, H Williams, W. R. White, and Misses M. Watscin and F. Watson.
