GHOSTS IN A VILLAGE

Ghosts of black-clad women, a man and a black cat are reported to have been' seen recently in the Village of Kexby by the vicar, the Rev. H. T. Leigh. Kexby residents have long declared that the district is frequented by supernatural* visitors associated with accidents at a local road junction known as Death Bend Corner. Mr. Leigh, whose vicarage is reported to be ; haunted, said: "It was as I walked home from church one evening that I saw the figure of a young man in black hurrying from my house across the lawn. When I called, 'What do you want?' the figure vanished. I saw the women near Death Bend Corner. They disappeared as I was about to speak." At Wilberfoss village, two miles away, a "ghost" which sent several people fleeing home in terror was reported to have been a farmer's vyife who, clad in her nightdress, went into the churchyard to fetch some wandering cattle.
