OBITUARY
MOST REV, C. F. D'ARCY (Received February 2, 9 a.m.) LONDON, February 1. The death is reported of the Primate of All Ireland, the Most Rev. C. F. D'Arcy. The Most Rev. C. F. D'Arcy, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, was born in 1859 and educated at High School and at Trinity College, Dublin, where he was First Science Scholar, Gold Medallist in Mental and Moral Philosophy, and took
a first class in Divinity,' progressing from his B.A. in 1882 to his D.D. in 1901. He was ordained deacon1 in 1884 and priest in the following year, and was curate of St. Thomas's, Belfast, in 1884-90, rector of Billy, County Antrim, in 1890-93, rector of Ballymena,' County Antrim, from 1893 to 1900, vicar and dean of Belfast in 1900-03, and Bishop of Clogher in 1903-07. After this he was successively Bishop of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin, until 1911, Bishop of Doovn and O'Connor until 1919, Archbishop of Dublin in 1919-20, and Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of the Church of Ireland from 1920. He hold many other posts in the Church and was select preacher at many English universities, including ! Oxford and Cambridge, receiving an honorary D.D. from Oxford University. • His publications on theological subjects were numerous. He married, in 1889, Miss Harriet Lc Byrtt, who died in j .1932, and had one son and three; daughter*. I
