The "Daily Herald" says that the German authorities are making a desperate effort to recall 10,000 current copies of "Die Reichsbahn," the official organ of the State railways, which discloses how the railways, once famous for safety and punctuality, have been compelled, owing to the drive for national self-sufficiency, to use condemned rolling stock, thus increasing by one-third the number of passengers killed by derailments and collisions since 1936.
