THREE FINE DAYS
HOLIDAY CROWD AT
TRENTHAM
WELLINGTON WORLD WELL
PLEASED
To look for a friend on Saturday at Trentham, with the crowds in the stands and on the lawns was much like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack. There seemed to be "stacks" of people everywhere, and it was a real "people's" day, for the family parties were to be seen in all directions. Every seat in the front of the big stand was occupied all day, and small children ran adoringly round the band stand and listened joyously to the cheerful music provided—for their special pleasure no doubt they imagined. The weather was propitious, for whatever it may have been in town, and there were stories of unpleasantly high winds, etc., at Trent-
ham. the wind was not enough to be unpleasant and kept the atmosphere from being too hot. Sunshine brightened everything,, and there were groups settled all about the lawns enjoying a real "day out," and the bright gardens were all much admired and had many visitors during the day. Racing was not the only attraction to; mothers and children, for these had a wonderful picnic day in charming surroundings, and it was reminiscent of Kew Gardens on a fine Saturday or Sunday
