HERE AND THERE
Wedding Film of Tennis Star. The New Zealand representative tennis players, Messrs. A. C. Stedman and D. C. Coombe, with a number of other tennis enthusiasts saw an interesting film at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. Andrews, Palmerston North, last week. It depicted the wedding in London of Mr. E. D. Andrews, the well-known tennis player, to Miss Y. Watson in March last year. The arrival of the guests and bridal party, and the actual ceremony at the Holy Trinity Church, Brompton Road, was clearly shown. A film of Madeira where the honeymoon was spent and of Mr. Andrews playing a singles match, was also screened. A Woman "Freeman." Members of the N.C.W. will have read with interest of the triumph of Miss Lily Stevenson, the first woman to become a freeman of Coventry for over 300 years, and of the part Mrs. Hartree played in the struggle. Miss Stevenson has sent an article to "Women in Council" explaining some of the responsibilities and advantages of her newly won Freedom. A Minority Report. "Our heartiest congratulations are offered to Miss Picton Turbervill, whose minority report on Mvi Tsai has been adopted in principle by the Government of the Straits Settlement," says the National Council organ, "Women in Council." "It is very rare, if not unique, for the recommendations of a minority report to be adopted by a Government, and to be adopted so soon after publication is a personal triumph for Miss Picton Turbervill.
