CHEESE PRICES BETTER

The demand continues to be good for under-grade Empire butter but choicest qualities are somewhat neglected. Holders are becoming anxious and are willing to consider Is a cwt less than the ruling prices. Stocks in the cold stores are at present light. They totalled 5970 tons on January 1, compared with 19,070 tons a year ago. The general retail price at present is 16d a lb for Danish and 14d for the finest Empire. Cheese prices have improved owing to the fact that buyers have let their stocks run down;
