FALSE FIRE ALARMS
MAN SENT TO GAOL
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN. This Day. In the Police Court, Alfred James ] Smart, on eighteen charges of giving false fire alarms, was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment.
The Director-General of tho Post and Telegraph Department states that advice has been received from Cable and Wireless, Ltd., that, .owing to .interruptions near Norfolk Island, there will be some unavoidable delay to cable traffic. However, the repair vessel is at work, and full restoration of service is expected shortly.
