The round of farewells to the New Zealand Empire Games team yester-day.-includedone extended tp, a num-ber-of'me:mbers of• the%am by the General Manager of Railways, Mr. C*. H Mackley, at the Railway Station in the afternoon. They were shown^over the station and saw the various phases of railway operations, including the train-running section, telegraph room, and the accounting system. The tour of inspection also included a visit to the nursery. Mr. Mackley personally cohducted the members of- the ■- team through the administration suite on the fourth floor and they were much _ impressed with the design and lay-out of the building. Afterwards Mr. Mackley spent some time chatting to the team in his room. In his youth Mr. Mackley was a rower of note. The party included two of the oarsmen, K. Boswell and B. Rigby, who also are railway employees, as are A. R. Geddes* the Otago athlete, and R. Taylor, Auckland cyclist, who were, among the others present. The party was entertained at afternoon tea by Mr. Mackley in the station dining-rooms. During the afternoon a group photograph was taken by the Railway Department photographer, Mr. Leslie Hinge, and before they left the building Mr. Mackley had the pleasure of handing each member of the team present a copy.
