KIRK-WINDEYER CUP VISITS
"I am. not here for golf this time," said Dr. Nigel Smith, of Sydney, who arrived by the Awatea today. Dr. Smith, who will be remembered by New Zealand golfers in the Kirk Windeyer-Cup matches, intends to do some trout fishing at camps on the Waikato River, and also to do a little racing. He is a well-known Sydney owner.
Discussing the Kirk-Windeyer Cup matches, which. seem to have become a dead issue, Dr. Smith said that while the golfers of. both countries enjoyed the interchange of visits, it was a trip that took some financing, and this was a matter rather beyond the reach of members of the teams. It seemed as though the contests would have to be dropped. . ' .
The Commonwealth, said Dr. Smith, was sending a team to England this year, which would probably comprise Nettlefold (Tasmania), T. McKay (Sydney), Hattersley, and Ryan.
