UNUSUAL CASE

DEATH OF. JOCKEY

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

PAtMERSTON N., This. Day.

The case was a very unusual one; nothing could have been done by an operation, said Dr. Pullar, pathologist at the Palmerston North Hospital, when giving evidence at an inquest this morning into the death on December 30 of Clifford James Plier, an apprentice jockey, of Hastings.

Other evidence showed that the deceased suffered previously, but Dr. Pullar said that death was not accelerated by head injuries received at that time, the cause being rupture of a hydatid cyst into the heart.

Plier was found unconscious in the stables at the Awapuni racecourse during the Summer Meeting. Dr. Pullar added that the cause of death was\ very rare. . . i .

: The Coroner's verdict was in accordance with the medical evidence.
