FINANCIAL CRISIS
(United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.)
(Received December 20, 1 p.m.)
LONDON, December 19,
The Archbishop of York, the Bishop of London, Viscount Bledisloe, and Vice-Admiral Swabey are appealing for financial aid for the Diocese of Polynesia. They recall that the Bishopric Endowment Fund, launched in 1935, was aimed to raise £10,000, of which about one-third was forthcoming.
They added: "We are confident that if Church people realised 'how comparatively small is the amount required to save the diocese from a serious financial crisis the remainder would speedily be provided."
