NEW KING'S COLOUR
A NAVAL :CEREMONY
PRESENTATION BY LORD
GALWAY
An interesting ceremony, the delivery of the new King's Colour into the custody of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, will take placeat the Basin Reserve at.5.30 p.m. ..on Monday, when the Governor-General, Lord Galway, will hand, over the Colour with naval pageantry.such as has seldom been seen in Wellington. The. parade was rehearsed yesterday afternoon. Three hundred officers and men from the Achilles and the Leander attended by the Royal Marine Bands, marched through the.'streets to the. reserve.
The guards and the bands will fall in at Clyde, Quay on Monday , arid; march, to the Basin; where they will form" up' facing- the grandstand. Lieut.Commander D.' Johnston will be in command. ; . '• :-" '--'.-
On his Excellency's arrival at 5.30 p.m. ■ the- Royal 'salute';will be /given., The old Colour will thenrba- trooped; and marched out to the tune . of "Auldl Lang Syne."\His Excellency will then hand over : the hew King's Colour and the guards will march past, advance in review order, and again give the Royr.l salute. They will then present arms while the bands play the opening bars of the Anthem. The new- Colour will be marched out after his Excellency's departure and the guards' will* return to their ships. ■■ "
The ceremony -will take about fortyfive minutes and spectators are asked to be in their places by 5.20 p.m.'
Invitations are being issued for • a ■reserved area, but the reserve will otherwise be open to the public.
