CHOIR CONCERT
ST. GILES, KILBIRNIE
A large and appreciative audience assembled recently in St. Giles Presbyterian . Church Hall, Kilbirnle, and thoroughly enjoyed Vttie ; programme provided by: the choir and visiting friends; : ■ '.. :
From start do finish Mr. Spencer Cooper] (choirmaster) had the.full support and co-operation ; of' his choir. Especially was this" shown in their rendering of the "Eriskay Loy«j .Lilt" and "Mary.''' • Other' enjoyable choir items were "Soldiers' Chorus," ''Sleep, Dear One" (Wheeler), "Lullaby"' (Brahms), "Goodnight Beloved" (Plnsuti), and "Border Ballad" (Maunder). ■ Mr. W. W. Marshall's '. renderings of .''Wandering on the King's Highway" and "My Heart isa Haven" were heartily applauded. > The Orpheus Sextet's partsongs were repeatedly encored; "Mimi's Song" and. "Steal Away" ■ were artistically rendered by-Miss-Marjorie Clifford; "Waiata Maori" and "Yesterdays" were charmingly sung by Mrs. Wiltshire. ■ Miss Nola Hyde- was heard to advantage in "Pipes of Trpoii,"' with a delightful little "Honeymoon Sketch" as an encore. The humorous contributions of Mr, C. Moore were.. most successful. ; . ■•'•'■ ■[■■'
■ "Between- the .Soup and-the Savoury," produced by Mrs. Walsh and party, was excellently, performed. , After-the concert the- Rev.-E. J. Orange .expressed his-thank? .to Mr. Cooper -and all. who had taken part, and presented Miss Dorothy Robson with a gift from the choir, as! a small token of their appreciation of all her assistance as honorary; accompanist throughout the rehearsal and' concert.
