THREAT OF VIOLENCE IN
BUCHAREST
(Received November 19, 9.40 a.m.) BUCHAREST, November 18.
Thousands of manifestos threatening violence to Dr. Nicolas Titulescu have been distributed to university members of the Iron \ Guard following the announcement that he is returning from abroad to resume his seat in the Senate and his position as Professor of Law. M. Nicolas Titulescu was Foreign Minister of Rumania until August last year, when he was dropped from tjtie Government while abroad, the Prime Minister, M. Tatarescu, reshuffling the portfolios of his Ministers. It was stated at the time that M. Titulescu was excluded 'from the new Cabinet because he w.as not a member of the ■ Liberal Party. Only a few weeks before, he had had several long talks with the King and his-colleagues,, and Cabinet had unanimously approved his foreign policy, and expressed unlimited confidence in him. For four years he had served a number of Governments with different leanings, and his work was admitted to have been energetic and skilful.- He strongly disapproved of the support accepted by M. Tatarescu from the Fascist, Iron Guard. He went to Cannes, where he fell ill with fever, and had several blood transfusions. The diagnosis of.his condition at first was anaemia, but subsequently was revised to blood poisoning. Later he went to Qeneva and London, and early this year he announced that he would return to Rumania. He was appointed Professor of Civil Law at Jassy University in 1905 and at Bucharest University in 19b9. (
