CHILD DROWNED
DAY'S BAY FATALITY
Judith Chapman, aged about 7, of 68 Hawker Street, was drowned while attending the picnic of St. Mary's Convent, Hill Street, at Day's Bay yesterday afternoon. The girl apparently lost her balance while paddling near the wharf. Other children noticed her predicament, and their'cries'brought help, but despite the efforts of, Mr. W. Dick, the caretaker at Williams. Park, who applied artificial respiration for half an hour before a medical practitioner arrived, life was extinct.
