CHARITY CONCERT

In aid of the Wellington Social Club for the Blind, the Aeolians* gave their second charity concert of this season hi the Town Hall Concert Chamber last night. Mr. Maxwell Fernie conducted a body of very capable singers who presented a variety of items both old and new. Among the choral numbers were the "Viking Song" <Coleridge£aylor), "Loch Lomond" (arranged by Vaughan Williams), "Comin" Thro* the Rye (arranged by Stanford Robinson), Who is Sylvia?" (Schubert), "Nymphs and Shepherds" (Purcell), "Henry of Navarre" (Harris), the attractive "Green Fire" and "Faery Chorus'from Boughton'a idyllic work, '*The Immortal Hour,'' "O Peaceful Night (German), "It's Oh, to be a Wild Rose," and the charming "As Torrents in Summer (Elgar),"My Love's an Arbutus" (arranged by Stanley Venn), toe madri; gal "I'm Going to My Lonely Bed (Edwards), and the glee, "All Among the Barley" (Stirling). The .Elgar numbers were sung unaccompanied, as was also the madrigal, and the glee had a flute, piano, and double bass accompaniment. . Several artists gave their services and materially assisted in the success of the concert. Miss Olga Burton, who possesses a charming light soprano voice, sang "The Wren* with flute obbligato. T«r. James Osborn£ tenor, presented "Lollta" and "On With the Motley." Mr. James Rodgers played flute solos and provided an obbligato for Miss Burton's song, and Mr. Bryan McMillan played, as P«noforte solo BrahJns's "Ballad in D Minor," Chopin s "PolonAiae in A Flat.' s "Prelude, in B Minor," and two Spanish dances by Albeniz.
