On Sunday night, in St. Michael and All Angels' Anglican Church, Kelburn, there was a special appeal on behalf of the Melanesian Mission by the Rev. J. Wilson, who is attached to the organising' staff of the mission. In an eloquent address.he sketched succinctly some of the vast problems confronting the comparatively small staff of workers dealing with a population of 700,000 souls and operating over a large number of islands that stretch for many hundreds of miles in the South Pacific Ocean. He said that two of the greatest handicaps at present were the need for more schools to train young islanders and also of medical missionaries to deal with the scourge of leprosy and other diseases to which the people are prone. The service was made specially missionary in style by the singing of appropriate hymns. In addition, the day being the eve of All Saints, the special hymn "For all the Saints" and the anthem "What are Theso?" added a touch which was also fitting. There was a strong choir and a large congregation, and the singing was eminently hearty and congregations'1
