In 1913, and prior to that date, they were farming in partnership at Stratford. "On the outbreak of war in 1914 Mr. Amos Boniface volunteered for active service and left with one of the

first contingents for overseas. Mr. J. O. Boniface subsequently relinquished the farm, and came to Palmerston North where in 1916 he purchased Everett's bakery business. This was carried on, on behalf of his absent ■ brother • and himself, until Mr. Amos returned from active service, and was able to take his share in the conduct of the newlyacquired business.. In 1927 a further expansion in business decided the firm to ; build' for themselves on their present site, and concentrate all their operations under one roof. At that time four, motor delivery vans jwere employed; today these have j grown to nine, and the staff to 30 odd, while further additions were made to (the bakery aiid plant, illustrated elsewhere in this issue, until today it is certainly one of the best equipped in the North Island. y With ovens automatically fired, and all the latest devices in the bakery trade it has been possible to get, Messrs. Boniface Bros.; have set a high standard of excellence to their profession, and it may be. j affirmed that the public of Palmerston (North City and district appreciate i their good services over the past 21 years, and will wish, this popular firm many happy returns' of their 21st Business Birthday.
