This is the oldest-established butchery firm in Palmerston North City. The present company has for more than 28 years served the public well. From the outset of its ownership it has always made it a- hard and fast rule to purvey absolutely nothing- but the, best quality meat procurable.^' Mr. J. Carter, the managing director, sees to that. He is one of the most experienced stock buyers in the country today. The business has actually been in existence for well over half a century. It was first opened by the late Mr. Joseph.Beale, one of the earliest arrivals, in the. bush township. Subsequently Mr. /Fred Bryant and Mr. Wm. Reed, both, of whom are still living in the city.yconducted the business. Around the city the business became a very extensive one, supplying in large quantities many outside contracting .Anns andflaxmills,besides a number of retail shops. Mr. R. S. Abraham, one of the city's most rioted business men, was the.first chairman of directors, a position he occupied for several years, and together with his co-direfctors placed the company on a lasting and solid foundation. The company's watchword has ever been "Quality and valued and this combined with a first-class service and fair trading methods, has made their name a household word in Palmerston North and given the company a reputation to be proud of. The company a few years ago built new premises to Broadway, and also acquired the cool storesiand Tiki Bacon Company's business to Princess Street The head office m located here.
