CHINESE RELIEF

FAR EAST FUND

A meeting of the executive committee 6t the Far East Relief Fund was held yesterday ' afternoon, Sir James Elliott presiding. Mr. M. S. Galloway reported that the, portion of the Dominion fund which; had been collected in Wellington ajid consisting of donations, the proceeds of collection boxes, subscription lists, and the sale of Red Cross stamps, now amounted to £491 17s 6d. The Dominion total was in the vicinity of £1000. The Petone Cycling and Athletic Club and the Wellington Cash Cycling Club were staging a benefit, cycling contest at the Petone Recreation Ground today.

Meachen reported that the headquarters of all Dominion organisations had been circularised and replies had been received from the Auckland HebreW congregation, the Navy League, and the Associated Chambers of Commerce. The New Zealand Federation of Labour had been communicated with to obtain the support of the trade unions.
