FOOTWEAR INDUSTRY

ONE PHASE OF BIG JOB

The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage), stated today that in connection with the Dominion's secondary industries a small but important beginning had been made to safeguard them. Representatives of the footwear industry had met the special sub-com-mittee of the Cabinet which has the task of surveying national resources and industrial prospects.- The meeting of Ministers and manufacturers^ was for the purpose of preparing a scheme of action that would be desirable for the safeguarding of . the Dominions footwear industry. ~ „ "That is just one phase," said, Mi.
