with cool nifht temperatures.

The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole is for north-westerly to westerly winds at times in eastern districts and about Cook and Foveaux Straits, but otherwise south-westerlies will prevail. Winds will be mainly moderate in force, but they.will be strong at times in exposed positions about and to the south of Cook Strait. Occasional passing showers are still probable in the western and far southern districts of the South Island, and a few isolated local showers elsewhere but for the most part the weather will be fine, with warm day and cool night temperatures. . • ' . There has been little change in the meteorological situation since yesterday. An anticyclone covers the Tasman Sea and extends on to New Zealand, but it appears to be losing intensity, and at the same time a series of slight , secondary depressions continues to pass in the south.
