Sir Alexander Roberts was elected chairman and Mr. W. A. Kiely vicechairman of the New Zealand Golf Council, at the meeting of that body yesterday. ' . , . The secretary submitted a report on the conduct of the tournament and suggestions for improving future programmes. ' ' •.-■ ■ ■'■■':.■ ;It-was resolved to arrange with a professional to inspect the Balniacewen and Shirley courses. ' Applications are to be invited for the holding of the North and South Island clpse championships in autumn next year. The council agreed that the association would provide challenge cups and miniatures for the championship events. The qualification was fixed at three months' residence in the island, and membership of an affiliated club in the island.

A letter, drafted by the chairman and vice-chairman, was sent to the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, of St. Andrews, asking for the approval of suggestions for future regulation of amateurs in the Dominion. .

The insurance company which holds the third-party risk in many of the clubs wrote offering to extend the cover to include accidents happening to caddies under certain conditions and'without extra premiums. The offer was accepted subject to the solicitor's approval of the conditions outlined. The following standard scratch scores were Belmont 68, Pleasant Point- 68, Strathmore Park 60.
