HUSBAND AND GUN

ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE

WANGANUI, This Day.

In the case against Kenneth St. Albans Hodgson (28), radio salesman, Raetihi, charged with attempted murder of his wife at Raetihi on August 25, the wife, re-examined this morning, said she did. not say yesterday that when the gun was pointed at her she was frightened that the accused would turn it on himself. She was frightened at the time that he was going to shoot her. She was not of the same opinion up to the stage when she took the gun away. She changed her attitude because she remembered that the night before he said she tried to make him do something that she would be sorry for for the of her life. She believed her husband said that if he wanted to shoot her he could easily push her away. She did not remember her husband at any time saying he was going to shoot her.

The witness, was given portion of her statementr to read and was asked if it were trut. • She replied that she was under a terrible strain of mind at the time. Up to that stage her husband was in custody, but they Were now living together. She knew he was fond of her and their little daughter.
